Sea - Land Borders Course
Purpose
To familiarize officers and NCOs from different countries with all aspects of Border Control Concept, to be capable to establishing, organizing, manning, equipping and training Land and Sea Border Control Units.

- Legal Considerations.
- ROE and Use of Force.
- Humanitarian Codes of Conduct.
- Human Rights.
- Refugees Rights.
- Border Control Unit organization, manning and equipment.
- Basic duties, responsibilities and techniques, such as vehicle and personnel searching and checking techniques, Control of Illegal arms Trafficking etc.
- Verification of Travel Documents.
- Hygiene Measures.
- Use of Drug/Bomb Dogs.
- Coast Guard Duties, Procedures and Sea Training.
- IOs - NGOs related with Refugees Handling.
- The UNHCR Example.
- Internal Conflict and Displacement.
- Field Training on Border Control Duties.
Students Criteria
- Officers OF-1 up to OF-3.
- NCOs OR-3 up to OR-9.
- English language proficiency as described in STNAG 6001/3-2-3-2.
Remarks
- Up to 25 participants. Allocations will be on a “ first comes – first served ” basis.
- Domestic (inland) transportation support (from Thessaloniki airport to the MPSOTC) will be provided by MPSOTC.
- Accommodation, food and drink expenses are to be paid by the participants(NATO Countries).
- There will be no charge for lodging and messing for some PfP and MeD countries, according to bilateral arrangements.
- Duration: two weeks from 11 June to 22 June 2012.
- Curse fees: 100 € per week.
- Dress: Service and field uniform.
