  On November 22nd, the Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center (MPSOTC) celebrated its 15th Anniversary.

   MPSOTC was founded in November 1998 after a directive of the Hellenic Ministry of Defense. It conducted the first two weeks trial Course on 23 of the same month with 25 participants from the Hellenic Unit for Peace-keeping Operations (of that time).

   It is a PfP Training Centre which has been recognized by NATO SG with the name «PfP Training Centre in Greece», since 19 May 2000. Moreover, it is recognized by UN and conducts the «UN Military Observers’ Course». Furthermore, supports the pre-deployment «mission-specific» training of National contingents, Staff Elements and Military Observers, which are tasked to participate in PSOs, prior to their mission assignment.

  During the celebration the MPSOTC Commandant Colonel (GRC A) Christos CHAIDEMENOS hosted many flag officers and officials from HNDGS, HAGS and National, religious and Military authorities of the city of Kilkis, N. Santa, Thessaloniki and Edessa Greece, as well.

   Among them were the Hellenic Army Inspector General Lt General Vasilios TELLIDIS (who was awarded as a former commander of the center), the COM 2nd Mechanized Division MGEN Petros GEORGIOU, the COM Service Support Division MGEN Kostas VLACHOS, the DCOM B’ Corps MGEN Theodoros DAGKOPOULOS, the COM 71 Airborne Brigade BGEN Dimitrios MPIKOS, former Commanders of the Centre and commanders of the local military forces, as well.

   During his speech Commandant MPSOTC presented a brief history of the center and highlighted the 15 years continuous effort for sustainable global peace and security. Afterwards a reception took place to the recreation area of the MPSOTC.
